Our trip to Oregon for Christmas started out a little rocky...
First, the drive from South Snohomish to Tualatin took us over 6 hours. Ugh. It should take about 3.5 hrs. We hit horrible bumper to bumper stop and go with more stops than go's in every city: Everett, Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia, Chehalis? Really? And Portland was the worst. It took an 1.5 hrs to get from Exit 304 NoPo to Exit 286 Wilsonville. After the 286 exit I was feeling the excitement of the home stretch to the Wilsons house. Then it happened. I ran a just-turned red light. It was blatantly red. I never do that, ever. I said out loud: "Gosh I hope there isn't a cop watching." John asked why. I told him. And right as I am telling him, I cut myself off and say "Well, I'm getting pulled over. Don't be scared." The officer was nice. It took me a while to find my documents and he could tell I was upset. I told him about the 6 hour car ride in terrible traffic. When he returned to me, I was a river of tears. He told me to be extra careful when I'm tired and frustrated. He didn't fine me! WOOPWOOP! I turned to the kids and say, "I didn't get a ticket!" Then I notice John doesn't have his seat belt on. OMG. Really? Not sure when or why he took it off... Also, he followed me to the next light and I was approaching it going very slow and of course I reach the point of no return when the light turns yellow and yes, I went through it! He had to stop. LOL.
